It was impossible to know what had happened 5000 years ago.

Only one thing is certain, darkness has taken root in Velkia's heart, enough to fall and be resurrected as an undead.

This wasn't just a case of becoming twisted. Velkia had come to hate the peaceful world she had once so desperately longed for.

Will my voice even reach her?

The undead were unstable beings. Even if he revealed that he was Kyle, she might not believe him. Even if she did, there was a high chance that it wouldn't change anything.

Step, step…

The reason Velkia, who had once looked upon the world so brightly, had come to despise it…

I need to find out what that reason is first.

Leo took a deep breath.

And if she won't listen, I'll just have to beat some sense into her. Once I finish taking care of things in Lumene, I'll track her down.

sep

"Welcome, Leo!" Professor Len enthusiastically welcomed Leo, who had visited his office.

"I hope I'm not imposing at this late hour, Professor Len."

"Hah, as if. You're always welcome here. So, what brings you here at this hour? Have you finally decided to join the Department of Magic?"

"That's not it."

"What a shame." Len shrugged, but he didn't actually look disappointed.

In truth, he had already given up on the matter of Leo's department.

It wasn't just him. Even Ain, who had tried to recruit Leo upon seeing his talent, and Yura had stopped pushing the issue.

Because the thing the three professors had been most worried about was no longer an issue.

Generally, among dual-class individuals, it was rare for someone to achieve exceptional skill in both fields. After the Age of Heroes, only two dual-class heroes had ever been recognized as the strongest: the Fairy Knight, Velkia, and the Twilight Knight, Lumene.

Aside from them, no other dual-class individual had ever mastered two abilities to the level of a hero. Most dual-class individuals who tried to pursue both paths often ended up failing at both. That was why it was common practice to choose one primary ability and use the second as a support.

Because of that, the three professors had determined that even an unprecedented all-class individual like Leo should focus on one main ability and use the other two as secondary.

But in the end, our worries were completely unnecessary.

Leo, as an all-class individual, had mastered every single ability without falling behind in any.

And in less than two years, at that.

Just looking at Leo, who had already reached the level of a hero, was enough to make them speechless. At this point, worrying about his future path was nothing but a joke.

"So, why did you come looking for me? If you want to have a discussion about magic, I'm always open to it."

Len smiled and waved his hand. A teapot and teacups floated over to Leo, and warm tea was poured into the cups in midair.

Leo picked up a floating cup and said, "It's about Luna."

"Lady Luna…" Len let out a chuckle. "It would've been even better if I had known she was Lady Luna from the start."

Len had, inadvertently, become the only professor to teach magic to the Nebula Pioneer, but he couldn't help but feel regret. If he had known it was Luna, they could have had even deeper discussions about magic.

Yep, this man is a born mage.

Watching Len sigh wistfully, Leo smirked internally before speaking, "Luna talked about you a lot, Professor Len."

"Really?"

"Yes. She told me that her dream was to be remembered forever, in some form or another." Leo took a sip of tea and continued. "In that sense, Professor Len, you helped fulfill her dream."

"Are you talking about Introduction to Stellar Magic?"

"Yes. She was overjoyed when she read it. She read your paper over and over again, praising you as a genius until her mouth went dry."

"This is the greatest honor… I hardly know what to say."

Len was truly touched. What greater honor could there be for a mage than this kind of praise?

"That's why, Professor Len, I feel like I can entrust this to you."

"Hm?"

Leo opened a subspace and pulled out four magic textbooks. They were thick study books that could easily be bought at Lumene's campus bookstore.

Seeing Leo hand him such heavy books, Len raised an eyebrow and took them.

He read the name written on the cover out loud, "Eliana Raden?"

Tilting his head in confusion, Len opened the book and started reading. His expression immediately hardened.

"This is…"

"It's the magic formulas Luna left behind."

"Did she create these after being inspired by Eliana?"

"Yes."

"I see."

Len began to read the contents of the book seriously. His eyes moved rapidly from left to right.

After reading through the first portion, he picked up the other books—each labeled with the names Chloe Mueller, Abad Lewellin, and Chelsea Lewellin—and read them one by one.

Then, after organizing his thoughts, he took a deep breath.

In a trembling voice, he said, "Leo, you know what these books represent, don't you?"

"Yes." Leo nodded. "They represent progress."

The magic books Luna left behind contained spells she had created after being inspired by four students. Each of them was a unique magic, designed specifically for its respective user, and the magic principles used in these spells were a step beyond the ones generally accepted in modern magic.

"Of course, since these are personal magic formulas, it'll be difficult to commercialize them right away." Len spoke with a serious expression. "Also, they're still incomplete."

Even Luna, hailed as the greatest genius in the history of magic, could not create world-changing magic in such a short time. That was why the spells she had devised during her brief time in the present era were still unfinished.

"You're showing me these because you want me to guide the students in completing them, right?"

"Yes."

Len fell into deep thought. Normally, he would have accepted the task without hesitation.

He firmly believed that, when it came to magic, he was one of the greatest scholars in the world. There were many mages stronger than him, but in the field of research, he was among the best.

But this time, the responsibility felt too heavy.

This is the magic that Lady Luna left behind in the present era.

After contemplating for a while, Len finally said, "Why did you choose me?"

"If it were Luna, she would definitely have chosen you, Professor Len."

"Me?"

"Yes. Luna talked about you a lot, Professor Len. Besides, you genuinely care for your students and think only about magic."

"Hmm…"

Leo had chosen Len, but even if it had been Luna, she would have made the same choice.

Len pondered for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll take care of it."

"Thank you."

Knock, knock—

Just then, there was a timely knock at the door.

"Come in," Len said.

The door opened, and Carl entered, followed by Eliana, Chelsea, Abad, and Chloe.

Len gestured for the four of them to sit. "Chloe, Abad, Chelsea, Eliana. Take a seat."

The four looked confused but did as they were told.

Leo stood up from his seat. "I'll be going now."

"Alright."

Leo waved at the four and exited the office with Carl.

Creak—click.

As the door closed behind them and they walked down the hallway, Carl asked, "Why did Professor Len call those four?"

"To teach them the magic Luna left behind."

"Wait, what? Magic left by Lady Luna? That's insane."

"Don't go blabbering about it."

"Ugh, but it's making me itch to talk." Carl smirked playfully.

Of course, Leo knew Carl wasn't the type to carelessly spread such information, so he simply chuckled.

"By the way, what kind of magic did she leave behind?" Carl asked.

"They're unfinished spells. What form they take will depend on how each mage develops them."

"But there's still a general concept, right?"

Carl was genuinely curious. His reason was simple.

In the end, mages are the wild cards of battle.

Mages could completely shift the tide of a battlefield. And since the magic was left behind for the top three in the Magic Department—excluding Leo—along with Eliana, an outstanding magic swordswoman, it was bound to be something extraordinary.

This could come in handy as a trump card later.

Though Carl aspired to be a supporter, his ability to read the battlefield, give out orders, and strategize made him the best commander among the second-years.

Leo looked at his friend.

He acts like he's a failure, but…

The stronger a hero was, the harder it was for them to cooperate with others. Heroes were inherently individuals with strong personalities, which naturally leads to discord.

However, Carl's leadership could solve that issue on the spot.

It requires keen observation and flexible thinking. He's the ideal commander.

Understanding Carl's talent, Leo explained, "For Eliana, it's a type of acceleration magic."

"Acceleration? That's more ordinary than I expected."

Leo recalled Eliana's unique magic. "It is, but what if she becomes so fast that the average perception can't even register her movements? The greatest advantage of light magic is speed, after all. Until now, her reckless and aggressive personality stops her from fully utilizing her strengths."

"Yeah, she's a charging idiot. Light magic requires finesse, but with her personality, that's impossible. She just keeps using large-scale magic relying on firepower until she runs out of mana."

As they walked down the hallway, Leo continued, "Exactly. That's why she relies on her swordsmanship. From what I've observed, though, she has more talent for magic than aura, so instead of forcing her to focus on swordsmanship, it'd be better to enhance her magic to amplify her swordplay."

"I see." Carl stroked his chin. "What about Chloe?"

"Spatial domination magic."

"Oh? An advanced version of Ice World?"

"That's right. From what I saw in the formula, it even interferes with the spirit realm."

"Huh?"

"Basically, the moment she activates the spell, she enters a pseudo-spiritual state."

"Wait, wait, wait. Chloe doesn't have any talent for spirit magic, though."

"She doesn't. The magic lets her access the realm of spirits artificially."

"Wow… Just hearing about it gives me a headache."

"That's assuming she can complete it."

Though she definitely will.

From what Leo had seen, Chloe was more than capable of completing that magic.

"What about Abad?"

"For wind magic, it's chantless casting."

"What? Chantless casting?!" Carl's jaw dropped.

Chantless casting was a dream that no one had ever achieved. Even Luna was only fast at it—she still required a casting process.

"That's insane."

"It is."

"Then what about Chelsea?"

"In terms of magic effects, it's similar to Chloe's."

"Oh?"

"A spell that allows her to control all the wind within a space through song."

"Those are all completely ridiculous."

"Luna is the only one who could think of such ideas and actually make them work."

Even Leo had to shake his head in admiration. He had always known Luna was incredible, but he was still surprised.

"Of course, it all depends on whether they can actually complete them."

"Crap, if they can, that'd be insane."

Carl was still marveling when he suddenly remembered something.

"Come to think of it, you guys fought against past heroes this time, right?"

"Yeah, we did. Damn, it was brutal." Carl shook his head.

"From your perspective, how did our classmates perform?"

"Why even ask? They were obviously monsters." Carl clicked his tongue in disbelief. "They were already monsters before, but I think the training camp really pushed them. In just a short time, they've all surpassed the second-year level by a wide margin."

"Kids do grow fast."

"Wow! You sound like an old man." Carl let out a sincere remark of amazement.

Leo chuckled.

"But…" Carl added gravely.

"But?" Leo tilted his head at Carl's sudden shift in tone.

Carl's expression darkened with concern. "There's one person who's still stuck in place… Eliza hasn't changed at all."
